OUR PURPOSE

The Technology Enhanced Learning Team works across multiple locations, supporting disciplines across the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. We support both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Anatomy, Dental, Medical and Vet Schools, assisting colleagues in the use of technology to deliver teaching and assessment and facilitate learning.

For UG Medicine we oversee the digital learning environment, comprised of a suite of tools and services available to students and staff. We can help develop blended learning activities and digital materials as part of the teaching you may offer to students, and are also interested in innovative technologies- we would love to work with you on VR and AI projects you may have in mind. We also have an IT focus as we look after the connectivity for students at the Academies to services like eduroam, ensuring they have internet availability when and where they need it- as well as devices like the Surface Hubs that allow for communication and teaching between Academies and back to the University campus.

For UG Medicine we can help with your questions about:

  • OneNote – all learning materials for case-based learning and Effective Consulting are distributed through OneNote, which also facilitates the collaborative exploration of the material by students in the same space.
Sam has prepared a mock CBL notebook to show an example of how cases work in clinical years. (Please do not edit)
  • Blackboard – the students’ virtual learning environment while they are studying Medicine. The MB ChB ‘courses’ (one for each year of study) deliver all learning materials, assignment submissions, student grades, lecture recordings (Re/Play) and announcements.
  • MBChB Sharepoint – a set of pages that contain lots of central programme information (not just relating to a single year of study)
  • MyProgress – the students’ undergraduate ePortfolio, where they demonstrate their Personal and Professional Development through a variety of activities and assessments throughout their studies
  • Learning/Education Tools that help you enhance your teaching e.g. Mentimeter, Padlet, Capsule, Clinically Speaking
  • Microsoft Surface Hubs – special “Microsoft Teams Rooms” enabled devices at each Academy that facilitate interactive sessions whether face to face, online or hybrid.
